Hello all. I am a private rescue who uses Petfinder.com to adopt out animals. Thinking this was a safe site and never had the problems that come with using Craigslist. I got a response from someone wanting to rescue a Hemingway Polydactyl (Extra-Toes Cat). I never had any problems with any of this before, and I do a lot of animal rescue. This last 2 weeks is the first of this nonesence I have come accross, with animal rescue. It really is a shame that they are using helpless animals as their target these days.
Problem was, that they are using almost the same text as the scammers on Craigslist... calling it an "adorable pet" stating it is a "daughter's birthday" and using other terminolgy that would not sound correct for a pet. Also, they want me to ship the cat/kitty, which I kindly inform them that there are tons of cats/kitten in just about every town, that they should be adopting from. In any case, I have been updating on Craigslist and Petfinder.com the names and emails of these scammers, hoping that no one gets screwed by these people.
Here are some emails and names being used and hope this helps anyone who is being scammed by these people.
1. Name: Mark Harris
Email: markhrrs@gmail.com
2. Name: Dr. David Ryan
Email: davidryan3320@yahoo.com
3. Name: Gary Nell or Mrs. Williams
Email: garynell02@yahoo.com
I will keep posting on my Craigslist Scam Thread and this Thread with new names I get.
Thanks all
