I'm posting this experience to let everyone know what I went though in the situation to help others prevent it.
I was contacted (unsolicited) through Skype about a potential photo shoot for a modeling company. Since I don't normally check my Skype account, this person e-mailed me from a gmail account asking if I had received her messages. Over the e-mail, this person pitched a modeling business, looking for a specific body type and explained that I was identified as a potential model by a recruiter. Deciding to go ahead and look into this (very naive regarding the modeling business), I accepted the Skype request, and we had our first Skype conversation. During this conversation, the person asked for some basic personal information and asked to see what I looked like through the webcam for initial profiling. The person asked to see what I looked like in a bikini, and finally asked to see me with my top off. I was extremely skeptical the whole way, said as much in the conversation, so the impersonator, sensing my suspicion, told me that a friend of mine was the reference and that she would be contacting me to let me know this was a legitimate company. This person actually hacked into her e-mail account and her Facebook account to make it look like she was contacting me directly. Even though I wasnt getting any in-person correspondence with my friend, I decided to trust the online communication I had and go through with the interview with my top off, thinking that justification was that the modeling agency needed to confirm the natural characteristics of my breasts (forehead smacking moment). We set up a follow-up meeting for a few days later.
We met up again on Skype, and during the interview, the person sent me a link to an image online. The image was a composition of several snapshots of me topless. The person then threatened to post the image on porn sites and on Facebook if I didnt cooperate by taking off my clothes. I confronted the person, telling him that what he was doing was wrong. I learned that he had seen pictures of me me randomly on Facebook and decided he wanted to see me naked. So, he hacked into one of my Facebook friends accounts in order to get my information, see all my friends, and develop a story. Meanwhile, I had sent another e-mail to my friend (earlier in the day) asking for more details about this modeling business to try to confirm its legitimacy, and the real friend e-mailed me back saying she didnt know anything about this, and it was definitely a scam (too little too late). The person kept telling me to take my clothes off and kept trying to threaten me, but I kept stalling. Eventually, the person ended the call, saying he felt bad and deleted the pictures anyway. Since then, I have had no contact with the individual, and no pictures have surfaced. I searched the Internet for other stories or incidents like this but couldnt find any. The reason Im posting this story is because I wanted others to be aware of this situation so it wouldnt happen to them.
